Valve installation precautions(I)

As an important part of the industrial system, the correct installation is crucial.  A properly installed valve not only ensures the smooth flow of system fluids, but also ensures the safety and reliability of system operation.  In large industrial facilities, the installation of valves requires not only consideration of technical details, but also compliance with relevant safety regulations and standards.  Therefore, the significance of correct installation of valves is not only reflected in the efficiency and stability of system operation, but also in the safety of staff and equipment.  Through correct installation, leakage problems can be minimized, system efficiency can be improved, industrial accidents can be avoided, the environment and employees’ lives and property can be protected, thereby providing reliable protection for industrial production.  Therefore, the correct installation of valves is essential and is one of the key links in ensuring the safe operation of industrial systems.

1.Inverted valve.

Consequences:inverted  valve, throttle valve, pressure reducing valve, check valve and other valves are directional, if inverted inverted, throttle will affect the use effect and life; Pressure reducing valves don’t work at all, and check valves can even pose a hazard.

Measures: General valves, with direction signs on the valve body; If not, it should be correctly identified according to the working principle of the valve. The valve chamber of the globe valve is asymmetrical, and the fluid should be allowed to pass through the valve port from bottom to top, so that the fluid resistance is small (determined by the shape), the opening is labor saving (due to the medium pressure upward), and the medium does not press the packing after closing, which is easy to repair. This is why the stop valve cannot be inverted. Do not invert the gate valve (that is, hand wheel down), otherwise the medium will remain in the valve cover space for a long time, easy to corrod the valve stem, and is taboo for some process requirements. It is very inconvenient to change the packing at the same time. Open stem gate valve, do not install in the ground, otherwise due to moisture and corrosion exposed valve stem. Lift check valve, installation to ensure that the valve disc vertical, so that the lift flexible. Swing check valve, installation to ensure that the pin level, in order to swing flexible. The pressure reducing valve should be installed upright on the horizontal pipe, and do not tilt in any direction.

2.Valve installation before the necessary quality inspection is not carried out.

Consequences:May lead to the system operation of the valve switch is not flexible, closed loosely and water leakage (gas) phenomenon, resulting in rework repair, and even affect the normal water supply (gas).

Measures: Before valve installation, compressive strength and tightness test should be done. The test shall be conducted by sampling 10% of the quantity of each batch (same grade, same specification, same model), and not less than one. For closed circuit valves installed on the main pipe that play a cutting role, strength and tightness tests should be carried out one by one. Valve strength and tightness test pressure shall comply with the quality acceptance code.

3.Butterfly valve flange with ordinary valve flange.

Consequences: the size of the butterfly valve flange is different from that of the ordinary valve flange. Some flanges have small inner diameters, and the butterfly valve flap is large, resulting in failure to open or hard open the valve. 

Measures: Flange should be processed according to the actual size of the butterfly valve flange.
